I decided to take my camera out to a half frozen river near my school earlier today. An hour and two soaking, freezing, wet feet later (I fell through...), I headed back to my dorm, and started playing around with the pictures in paint shop pro. I found an interesting effect that I kind of like.. To me it looks somewhere between a painting and a photograph.. I thought I would upload it just for kicks and to see what everyone else thought

yeah, I like this a lot.
in paint shop pro, try "colored edges" under the artistic effects, and choose black as the color. that turns out cool sometimes too, adjust the blur and the intensity, and oh yeah, try the displacement map thingy too, grins.

it looks good in small size, but fullsize looks weird to me. but then again the scenario, specially the snow makes it look somewhat fitting. it's almost like an unfinished animation process. and i mean that in a good way.

meh, it has too much of a digital PS filter look.

I'd honestly say you should just stick to adjusting levels/colors in PSP. It's a neat effect, but just applying it over the entire photo makes it look off somehow.
